제목: 두려워하는 빌라도 (요 19:1-12)

1. 빌라도는 영적으로 두려워했다.

• 빌라도가 예수님께서 하나님의 아들이라는 말을 듣고 두려워했다.
• 신자는 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 하나님의 사랑으로 평안을 누린다.

2. 빌라도는 세상의 권세 때문에 두려워했다.

• 빌라도는 로마황제의 미움을 받을까 두려워했다.
• 신자는 예수 그리스도를 주님으로 섬기기 때문에 두려움이 없다.

3. 빌라도는 사람들의 비난을 두려워했다.

• 빌라도는 유대 지도자들과 군중들의 함성을 두려워했다.
• 신자는 오직 하나님의 칭찬을 기대한다.

하나님이 우리에게 주신 것은 두려워하는 마음이 아니요 오직 능력과 사랑과 절제하는 마음이니 (딤후 1:7)

1. Pilate was afraid spiritually

• Pilate was afraid after hearing Jesus was the son of God.
• Believers receive peace through the love of God in Jesus Christ.

2. Pilate was afraid due to the worldly power.

• Pilate was afraid he would be disliked by the Roman Emperor.
• Believers are not afraid as we serve Jesus Christ as our Lord.

3. Pilate was afraid of criticism and blame.

• Pilate was afraid of the Jewish leaders and the crowd’s shouting.
• Believers only look forward to the commendation from God.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7)
