1. 환난과 박해 가운데서도 성도의 본분을 다해야 한다.

• 바울 일행과 데살로니가 교회 성도들은 박해 중에도 복음전도와 신앙생활에 충실하였다.
• 우리가 고난 가운데서 믿음을 지키면 하나님께서 기뻐하신다.

2. 인간적인 동기나 욕망이 아닌 하나님의 뜻을 따라야 한다.

• 바울 일행은 이기적인 사람의 뜻이 아닌 하나님의 뜻에 순종했다.
• 우리가 인본주의를 버리고 하나님 중심으로 살면 주님께서 도와주신다.

3. 사명감과 동시에 사람들에 대한 깊은 사랑을 가져야 한다.

• 바울 일행은 부모의 심정으로 복음을 전하고, 말씀을 가르쳤다.
• 우리가 예수님의 사랑으로 가족과 이웃을 사랑하면 그들이 하나님의 가족이 된다.

“우리가 이같이 너희를 사모하여 하나님의 복음 뿐 아니라 우리의 목숨까지도 너희에게 주기를 기뻐함은 너희가 우리의 사랑하는 자 됨이다.” (살전 2:8)

Title: To be pleasing to God (1 Thessalonians 2:1-12)

1. We should keep doing what we should as a Christian even during times of difficulty.

• Paul’s company and the church of Thessalonica worked hard to preach the gospel even during suffering and strong opposition.
• When we keep our faith during difficulties God is pleased.

2. We must not follow human desires or impure motives but the will of God.

• Paul’s company followed God’s will, not the selfish desires of humans.
• When we give up humanism and live a God centered life, the Lord helps us.

3. Along with the sense of duty, we should have deep love.

• Paul’s company preached the gospel and taught the word of God just as a nursing mother cares for her children.
• When we love our family and neighbours with the love of Jesus, they become God’s family.

“so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” (1 Thessalonians 2:8 NIV)
