1. 성경은 맹세에 대한 많은 교훈을 담고 있다..

• 하나님께서 맹세를 통하여 그의 언약의 신실함을 가르친다.
• 우리는 성경의 맹세에 대한 교훈에서 하나님의 언약을 기억해야 한다.

2. 왜 맹세하지 말라고 명령했는가?

• 사람은 맹세를 통해 자기 의를 드러내려 하고, 그것을 지킬 수 없으므로 거짓말의 함정에 빠진다.
• 우리는 맹세를 지킬 수 없음을 인정하고, 맹세하지 말아야 한다.

3. 하나님의 약속을 믿고 순종해야 한다.

• 하나님께서 예수 그리스도를 통해 인간을 구원하실 것을 약속하셨다.
• 우리는 하나님의 약속을 믿고, 그의 말씀을 순종하려는 다짐을 해야 한다.

“ 또 약속하신 이는 미쁘시니 우리가 믿는 도리의 소망을 움직이지 말며 굳게 잡고 서로 돌아보아 사랑과 선행을 격려하며 모이기를 폐하는 어떤 사람들의 습관과 같이 하지 말고 오직 권하여 그 날이 가까움을 볼수록 더욱 기리하자. ” (히브리서 10:23-25)

1. The Bible has many teachings about swearing an oath.

• God teaches the faithfulness of His covenant through swearing.
• In the Bible’s teachings about swearing, we should remember God’s covenant.

2. Why are we commanded not to swear an oath?

• People try to show their own righteousness through swearing, and fall into the trap of lying because they cannot keep the oath.
• We should acknowledge that we cannot keep an oath, and refrain from swearing any oaths.

3. We should believe in God’s promises and obey.

• God promised salvation through Jesus Christ.
• We should believe His promise, and try to obey His word.

“ Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching. ” (Hebrews 10:23-25)
