제목: 주의 날 (데살로니가전서 5:1-11)

  1. 주의 날은 예기치 않을 때 갑자기 이른다.
  • 예수 그리스도께서 다시 오시는 때는 아무도 모른다.
  • 우리는 예수님께 속하여 주님을 맞이할 준비를 해야 한다.
  1. 주의 날은 믿지 않는 자들이 거짓 평화에 취해 있을 때 이른다.
  • 예수 그리스도께서 사람들이 ‘평안하다 안전하다’할 때, 심판 주로 오신다.
  • 우리는 물질의 풍요와 세상의 번영에 취하지 말고, 천국을 소망하며 살아야 한다.
  1. 주의 날은 반드시 이른다.
  • 예수 그리스도의 재림은 반드시 이루어질 주님의 약속이다.
  • 우리는 예수 그리스도께서 반드시 다시 오실 것을 믿어야 한다.

“이것들을 증언하신 이가 이르시되 내가 진실로 속히 오리라 하시거늘 아멘 주 예수여 오시옵소서” (계22:20)

 

Title: The day of the Lord (1 Thessalonians 5:1-11)

  1. The day of the Lord will come when you least expect it.
  • Nobody knows when Jesus Christ will return.
  • We have to be in Jesus and be ready for Him.
  1. The day of the Lord will come when those who don’t believe are in false peace.
  • Jesus Christ will come as the Lord of judgement when people say “It’s peaceful, It’s safe.”
  • We shouldn’t be engulfed in the riches of this world but live with the hope of heaven.
  1. The day of the Lord will definitely come.
  • The return of Jesus Christ is the promise of the Lord that will definitely come true.
  • We have to believe the Jesus Christ will definitely come again.

“He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.” (Revelations 22:20 NIV)

제목: 부활의 소망 (데살로니가전서 4:13-18)

  1. 그리스도인에게는 부활의 소망이 있다.
  • 바울은 데살로니가 교회 성도들에게 부활의 소망이 있음을 알도록 권면했다
  • 우리는 신자의 부활을 믿고, 소망하여야 한다.
  1. 그리스도인의 부활소망은 예수님의 부활에 근거한다.
  • 예수 그리스도께서 부활하셔서 부활의 첫 열매가 되셨다.
  • 우리는 예수님께서 다시 오실 때, 그리스도에게 속한 자로 부활하여 주님을 맞이하여야 한다.
  1. 부활의 소망은 모든 그리스도인에게 위로를 준다.
  • 바울은 부활신앙과 부활소망으로 서로 위로하라고 권면했다.
  • 우리는 가족과 이웃들에게 복음을 전하여 그들도 부활소망을 갖도록 해야 한다.

“나팔 소리가 나매 죽은 자들이 썩지 아니할 것으로 다시 살아나고 우리도 변화되리라” (고전15:52)

 

 

Title: The hope of resurrection (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

  1. Christians have hope of resurrection.
  • Paul encouraged the members of the Thessalonica church to know that they had hope of resurrection.
  • We should all believe and hope in the resurrection of believers.
  1. Christians’ hope of resurrection is based on the resurrection of Jesus.
  • Jesus rose from the grave and became the firstfruit of resurrection.
  • We should belong to Christ and rise to welcome Him when He returns.
  1. The hope of resurrection is encouragement for Christians.
  • Paul said to encourage one another with the belief and hope of resurrection.
  • We should share the gospel with our families and neighbors so that they can also have the hope of resurrection.

“For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.” (1 Corinthians 15:52 NIV)

  1. 너희는 조용히 자기 일을 열심히 하라.
  • 바울은 데살로니가 교회 성도들에게 일하기를 힘쓰라고 권면했다
  • 우리는 각자 맡은 일을 열심히 해야 한다.
  1. 너희는 믿지 않는 이들에게 단정히 행하라.
  • 그리스도인들은 믿지 않는 이들에게 일터에서 좋은 영향을 주어야 한다.
  • 우리는 각자가 종사하는 분야에서 전문가가 되어야 한다.
  1. 너희는 아무 궁핍함이 없게 하라.
  • 바울은 열심히 일하여 궁핍함을 없게 하라고 권면했다.
  • 우리는 부지런히 일하여 넉넉함으로 사람들을 도와야 한다.

“나의 하나님이 그리스도 예수 안에서 영광 가운데 그 풍성한 대로 너희 모든 쓸 것을 채우시리라” (빌4:19)

 

 

Title: Work hard (1 Thessalonians 4:9-12)

  1. Mind your own business and work with your hands.
  • Paul encouraged the members of the Thessalonica church to work hard.
  • We should all work hard in the work we are given.
  1. Win the respect of outsiders.
  • Christians should be a good influence to those in the workplace who do not believe.
  • We should become specialist in the area of our work.
  1. Do not be dependent on anybody.
  • Paul encouraged to work hard such that you will not be dependent on anybody.
  • We should work hard such that we can help others abundantly.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 NIV)

  • 우리가 예수 그리스도를 구주와 주님으로 믿는 것을 하나님께서 기뻐하신다.
  1. 우리는 하나님의 뜻인 거룩함으로 하나님을 기쁘시게 한다.
  • 바울은 성적인 면에서 거룩함을 강조했다.
  • 우리는 몸과 마음을 성결하게 하여 하나님을 기쁘시게 해야 한다.
  1. 우리는 성령의 도우심으로 하나님을 기쁘시게 한다.
  • 하나님께서 성령을 보내셔서 예수님을 믿게 하고, 거룩한 삶을 살게 한다.

Title: To please God (1 Thessalonians 4:1-8)

  1. We can only please God in our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Paul encourages to please God in Jesus Christ.
  • God is pleased when we believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.
  1. We can please God through holiness, which is the will of God.
  • Paul emphasized holiness in sexual matters.
  • We should make our body and mind holy to please God.
  1. We can please God through the help of the Holy Spirit.
  • God sent the Holy Spirit to let us believe in Jesus, and live a holy life.
  • We who have believed in Jesus through the help of the Holy Spirit must seek the fullness of the Holy Spirit to live a holy life.

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” (John 16:13a)

제목: 형제자매들아! (데살로니가 전서 3:1-10)

  1. 그리스도 안에서 형제자매들은 자주 만나 교제해야 한다.
  • 바울 일행과 데살로니가 교회 성도들은 얼굴보기를 간절히 원했다.
  • 우리는 자주 만나 말씀과 기도로 교제하여야 한다.
  1. 그리스도 안에서 형제자매들은 서로 격려하고 위로해야 한다.
  • 바울은 데살로니가 성도들을 격려하기 위해 디모데를 그들에게 보냈다.
  • 우리는 서로서로 칭찬과 격려로 세워주어야 한다.
  1. 그리스도 안에서 형제자매들은 거룩한 공동체로 자라가야 한다.
  • 바울은 데살로니가 교회 성도들이 하나님 앞에 거룩하게 서기를 원했다.
  • 우리도 주님의 재림을 기다리는 거룩한 공동체를 이루어야 한다.

“평강의 하나님이 친히 너희를 온전히 거룩하게 하시고 또 너희의 온 영과 혼과 몸이 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 강림하실 때에 흠 없게 보전되기를 원하노라” (데살로니가전서 5:23)

 

 

Title: Brothers and Sisters! (1 Thessalonians 3:1-10)

  1. Brothers and sisters should meet regularly in Christ.
  • Paul and his companions eagerly wanted to see the faces of the Thessalonian church members.
  • We should gather often to share in the word of God and prayer.
  1. Brothers and sisters should encourage and comfort each other in Christ.
  • Paul sent Timothy to Thessalonica to encourage them.
  • We should compliment and encourage each other.
  1. Brothers and sisters should grow in a holy community in Christ.
  • Paul wanted the Thessalonian church members to become holy in front of God.
  • We should also form a holy community waiting the return of the Lord.

“May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23 NIV)

  1. 하나님의 말씀은 믿는 자에게 구원의 은혜를 깨닫게 한다..
  • 하나님의 말씀이 예수 그리스도를 구주로 믿어 구원받게 한다.
  • 우리는 하나님의 말씀을 통해 예수 그리스도를 믿었다.
  1. 하나님의 말씀은 믿는 자에게 고난을 이기도록 힘을 준다.
  • 하나님의 말씀이 고난을 이겨내는 그리스도인이 되게 한다.
  • 우리는 하나님의 말씀을 통해 고난을 이겨내야 한다.
  1. 하나님의 말씀은 믿는 자들을 예수 그리스도 앞에 영광과 기쁨이 되게 한다.
  • 하나님의 말씀이 그리스도인을 예수님의 신부로 서게 한다.
  • 우리가 주님 앞에 영광과 기쁨이 되려면 하나님의 말씀을 순종해야 한다.

“하나님의 말씀은 살아 있고 활력이 있어 좌우에 날선 어떤 검보다도 예리하여 혼과 영과 및 관절과 골수를 찔러 쪼개기까지 하며 또 마음의 생각과 뜻을 판단하나니” (히브리서 4:12)

  1. The word of God makes the faithful realize the grace of salvation.
  • The word of God makes us believe in Jesus Christ as savior and be saved.
  • We have believed in Jesus Christ through the word of God.
  1. The word of God gives the faithful the power to overcome suffering.
  • The word of God makes us Christians who can overcome suffering.
  • We should overcome suffering through the word of God.
  1. The word of God makes the faithful be a glory and joy in front of Jesus.
  • The word of God makes Christians become brides of Christ.
  • We should obey God’s word to become glory and joy in front of Jesus.

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

제목: 하나님을 기쁘시게 하려 함 (데살로니가전서 2:1-12)

  1. 환난과 박해 가운데서도 성도의 본분을 다해야 한다.
  • 바울 일행과 데살로니가 교회 성도들은 박해 중에도 복음전도와 신앙생활에 충실하였다.
  • 우리가 고난 가운데서 믿음을 지키면 하나님께서 기뻐하신다.
  1. 인간적인 동기나 욕망이 아닌 하나님의 뜻을 따라야 한다.
  • 바울 일행은 이기적인 사람의 뜻이 아닌 하나님의 뜻에 순종했다.
  • 우리가 인본주의를 버리고 하나님 중심으로 살면 주님께서 도와주신다.
  1. 사명감과 동시에 사람들에 대한 깊은 사랑을 가져야 한다.
  • 바울 일행은 부모의 심정으로 복음을 전하고, 말씀을 가르쳤다.
  • 우리가 예수님의 사랑으로 가족과 이웃을 사랑하면 그들이 하나님의 가족이 된다.

“우리가 이같이 너희를 사모하여 하나님의 복음 뿐 아니라 우리의 목숨까지도 너희에게 주기를 기뻐함은 너희가 우리의 사랑하는 자 됨이다.” (살전 2:8)

 

 

Title: To be pleasing to God (1 Thessalonians 2:1-12)

  1. We should keep doing what we should as a Christian even during times of difficulty.
  • Paul’s company and the church of Thessalonica worked hard to preach the gospel even during suffering and strong opposition.
  • When we keep our faith during difficulties God is pleased.
  1. We must not follow human desires or impure motives but the will of God.
  • Paul’s company followed God’s will, not the selfish desires of humans.
  • When we give up humanism and live a God centered life, the Lord helps us.
  1. Along with the sense of duty, we should have deep love.
  • Paul’s company preached the gospel and taught the word of God just as a nursing mother cares for her children.
  • When we love our family and neighbours with the love of Jesus, they become God’s family.

“so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” (1 Thessalonians 2:8 NIV)

  • The Thessalonian church listened carefully to Paul’s teaching of the gospel as God’s words.
  • We should listen carefully to the word of God to become an example of faith.
  1. We should be joyful for the power of the Holy Spirit and deep conviction.
  • The Thessalonian church were joyful with the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • When we are full of the Holy Spirit we are always joyful.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4 NIV)

  • We should also show love by laboring for our family, our church and our neighbours.
  1. Endurance inspired by hope
  • The members of the Thessalonian Church endured while hoping for the return of Jesus Christ.
  • We can also overcome difficulties in life through hope in heaven.

“’He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:4 NIV)

  • There are many believers who are praying for our church and are glad to hear the news of our church growing.
  1. This church was in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • The church of the Thessalonians served God as the Father, and Jesus Christ as Lord.
  • We also are children of God through believing in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.
  1. This church had grace and peace.
  • Paul blessed the church of the Thessalonians with grace and peace.
  • Let us pray for this year to be filled with the grace of salvation and the peace from God.

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.” (2 Thessalonians 3:16 NIV)
